Ellen Schutt has been in the natural products industry for more than 10 years and brings a strong background in raw materials marketing, sales and research as well as an extensive knowledge of the industry.
Ellen was responsible for the creation of Nutraceuticals World, a leading industry trade magazine. She spearheaded the initial research to prove out the magazine concept and recruited a stellar editorial advisory board, top-notch columnists and varied content that has proven its success over the 11 years since its inception. In her role as editor-in-chief, Ellen handled all the day-to-day duties associated with running a monthly magazine and also became an expert on the industry’s suppliers, manufacturers, channels, markets, ingredients and issues. She has built a strong network of knowledge and contacts that continues to serve her today.
Ellen also has experience in the raw materials sector through a stint at RFI Ingredients, a manufacturer of natural, certified organic ingredients, primarily of plant origin. Ellen started at RFI as director of marketing, but her role was expanded to include a sales function and she was also tasked with running the company’s custom formulations division, acquired from Garden of Life in 2004. This combination of positions gave Ellen deeper insights into the ins and outs of running an ingredient business, including supply chain management issues, creating efficacious yet cost effective formulas and understanding the business challenges inherent in the raw materials space.
Since 2006 Ellen has been running her own consulting business, Schutt Solutions, where she has worked with a variety of clients handling business development, strategic marketing, competitive research and analysis projects and new product and market development.
